Dr. George J. Todd is Professor of Clinical Surgery at Columbia University and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York.
After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine (1974) he completed his general surgery and vascular surgery training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center (1974-1980). Following his vascular surgery fellowship, he was invited to join the full-time surgical staff at Columbia University and rose through the ranks to the level of Professor and Chief of Vascular Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center (New York Presbyterian Hospital System). He headed the Vascular Surgery Service at Columbia University Medical Center for 12 years (1988-2000) until he accepted the position as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center (a Columbia University affiliated Hospital Center).
Dr. Todd has performed more than 15,000 surgical operations, has authored more than 100 publications in his field, has lectured extensively throughout the world, and is a member of all the major vascular surgical societies in the USA. He maintains an active vascular surgery/vascular medicine practice in New York City. He has been elected by his peers as a “Distinguished Fellow” of the Society for Vascular Surgery and has been listed on every compilation of the “Best Doctors in New York” (1991-2011) and the “Top Doctors in America” (2001-2011). He has served as a consulting surgeon to the New York Yankees for more than 15 years.
